Mikitenko, Mockenhaupt and Fitschen nominated for European Cup 10.000m

Germany will send a small but very strong team to the 14th European Cup 10.000m in Marseille/FRA on 5th of June.

Irina Mikitenko, Sabrina Mockenhaupt and Jan Fitschen all want to run the 10.000m at the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona/ESP. While Mockenhaupt already ran a 32:10,31min in the German 10.000m Championships this year, Irina Mikitenko still needs to run the qualification time of 32:25,00min. For last years winner of the World Marathon Majors it will be the first time since 2008 that she will compete over 25 laps on the track.

Also Jan Fitschen needs to run the qualification time, which is 28:45,00min for the men. The defending European 10.000m Champion will open his season soon and might have a realistic chance to qualify for the German team after a long break due to injuries.
