André Höhne walks World Championships qualifier
April 7, 2009
The German race walkers came back from the Race Walking Challenge in Rio Maior with mixed feelings. In the men’s 20K André Höhne qualified for the World Championships 2009 in Berlin with a time of 1:21:30 in 6th place. Also Mike Berger performed well with a clocking of 1:25:12h in 11th place. For him the race was a tune up for the more important 50km-distance. Christopher Linke finished with a time of 1:26:05, which is below the standard (1:26:30) for the U23-European Championships.
Rather disappointing was the pullout of Sabine Krantz after about the half of the race. 10 days after coming back from the altitude training camp in Flagstaff Krantz had a bad day but coach Ron Weigel is optimistic that better days will follow for her. Also the disqualification of Christoph Roschinsky and Christin Elß were a disappointment for head coach Weigel.
