German Record holder Peter Seifert hit by car during trainining camp – still in atificial coma

Sad news came in this week from Lanzarote where Peter Seifert was in a training camp. Peter was hit by a car on a training run and was brought to the hospital in Lanzarote and afterwards directly transported to Las Palmas/Gran Canaria already on 15th of March. Fortunately Peter was running with a fellow runner, who immediately gave first aid and informed emergency medical service. Because of severe head injuries, doctors had to place him into an artificial coma. Currently, Peter is still in an artificial coma but is getting better slowly.

Peter Seifert set a new German 50K record this March with a time of 2:52:14h in Marburg, winning the German National Championships at the same time. Only a couple of days after his victory he started his training camp to prepare for the upcoming events (most of all the qualification for the World Championships 100K). Of course those races are of minor importance now.

We all wish a good and fast recovery!!
