Married couple Jörg and Tanja Hooß win German 100km-titles 2009
October 6, 2009
The “fastest couple” of Germany dominated the German 100km Championships on the German Unification Day (3rd of October) in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler.
In 2004 the couple just missed the double-victory when Tanja Hooß took the title in Kienbaum but her husband Jörg was beat by Michael Sommer. This year the two finalised the triumph. Both already had a comfortable lead after halfway and held off their opponents also when the temperatures rose well over 10°C in the second half.
Tanja Hooß (7:55:37h) defeated the defending champion Branka Hajek (7:57:19h). Also Jörg Hooß (7:21:44h) could take the title from last years winner Michael Sommer (7:36:43h) with Gerhard Läpple (7:37:35h) in 3rd place.
Altogether 141 athletes competed on the 5km-loop.
