Despite a missing title sponsor: Hamburg marathon 2009 will take place and registration is now open.

On April, 26th 2009 the 24th version of the Hamburg marathon will be run, even without a title sponsor.  The IAAF gave the marathon in the German North the “Golden Road Race Label” which only receive the races with highest quality. Last year approx. 20.000 runners and 800.00 spectators enjoyed the atmosphere on the fast course.

The race organisers lost the title sponsor, which discontinued the contract after the 2008 edition of the marathon. However, now there are enough sponsors could be acquired to secure the realisation of the event in 2009.
