“Mocki” is fit for the 10.000m after winning the Berlin halfmarathon in 68:45min

“I am super-happy” that was the short summary of Sabrina “Mocki” Mockenhaupt after her victory in the 29th halfmarathon in Berlin.  With a personal best of 1:08:45h she was faster than two Kenyans and is now ready to complete the next stage towards the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin.

In Berlin Mockenhaupt wants to run the 10.000m on the track. To compete in the World Championships she will have to run 31:45min, but after the Berlin halfmarathon she said that she could run this time already now. After some more training she is trying to run the time either on 6th of June in Ribeira Brava (Madeira/Portugal) or in Utrecht (Netherlands).

Even though Mocki already ran the qualifying time for the World Championship marathon in last year’s Frankfurt marathon (2:26:22) she is aiming for the long track distance. It she should fail to qualify over 10.000m she might still run the marathon as a plan B.
