Sabrina Mockenhaupt runs Cologne marathon on 4th of October 2009
September 7, 2009
Sabrina Mockenhaupt announced that she will run the full marathon distance at the “13. Köln Marathon” that will take place only 6 weeks after the World Championships Marathon, where she also competed in the marathon.
In the IAAF world championships marathon in the German capital Berlin she was the fastest German marathon participant with a time of 2:30:07h and 17th place overall.
Initially “Mocki” planned to run the halfmarathon at the event in Köln/Cologne but as she is in good fitness and wants to win in front of the home crowd she changed her plans. Her coach Heinz Weber said that the recovery time was extraordinary and believes that she can break the course record in Cologne. Until now Angelina Kanana was the fastest women in the race in 1997 with a time of 2:27:27. Sabrina Mockenhaupt recorded her PB in last years Frankfurt Marathon, where she won with the time of 2:26:22h.
