Most of the German track&field athletes that are going to Beijing had a last test in Wattenscheid (GER). Ariane Friedrich (high jump / 2,01m), Nadine Kleinert (shot put / 19,52m) on the woman’s side as well as Robert Harting (discus / 66,96) and some other throwers (Ralf Bartels, Peter Sack, Markus Esser, Betty Heidler,..) hold the highest hopes for a medal in Beijing and presented reasonable performances in the meeting.
In the distance running events, 1.500m Olympian Carsten Schlangen won a tactical race (3:37,05min) with a fine kick over the last 150m. If the pace is not to fast, he might have a chance to survive the Olympic heats.
